Welcome to The Golden Flake Tavern!
By now, many of you will have heard the exciting news – we’re absolutely buzzing to be teaming up with Greggs to brew not just one, but two bespoke beers for their brand-new pop-up pub in Fenwick, The Golden Flake Tavern. This is a collaboration we’ve been dying to share, and now that it’s out in the world, we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve created together.
When the idea first came about, we knew we wanted to pay proper homage to Greggs by taking inspiration from some of their most iconic menu items. After plenty of conversations, tastings, and a fair bit of experimenting, we landed on two absolute classics: the legendary Pink Jammie Doughnut and a true North East staple, the humble but mighty Stottie.
From there, our brewers got to work. The result? Two beers that are as playful and nostalgic as they are carefully crafted. Pink Jammie is our Jam Doughnut Pale Ale – sweet, fruity, and full of character, with a soft, pillowy finish that’ll remind you of biting into that first sugary mouthful of a Greggs doughnut. On the other hand, Gosforth 1939 – named after the year and place where Greggs began – is our Stottie Lager. Clean, crisp, and refreshing, it’s a nod to tradition while still bringing that Full Circle twist we love to put into everything we brew.
For us, this collaboration is more than just making beer – it’s about celebrating two North East brands coming together, blending heritage with craft, and creating something people can enjoy in a way that feels fun, familiar, and a little bit different.

Last week, Ben and Jordan headed down to check everything out, grab a pint, and tuck into some proper scran. The atmosphere was spot on, the beers were flowing, and the whole experience was absolutely class. We couldn’t be happier with how it all came together, and we’re buzzing for everyone else to get the chance to head down, try it for themselves, and enjoy our brand-new beers made in collaboration with Greggs.
This project has been such a fun one to be part of, and we’re genuinely proud of what we’ve created. It’s not every day you get to team up with an iconic brand like Greggs, and seeing it all brought to life in such a great setting at Fenwick has been pretty special.
Massive thanks to both Greggs and Fenwick for giving us this opportunity and for backing the idea from the start. We can’t wait to see more people enjoying the beers, sharing the experience, and making a proper occasion of it. Here’s to many more!

The Beers...
Bringing the flavour of a Greggs Jam Doughnut into a pint glass was always going to be a challenge, but it was one we couldn’t resist taking on. With Pink Jammie, we set out to create something playful, nostalgic, and a little bit unexpected – while still staying true to the craftsmanship and balance you’d want from a great pale ale.
Through a careful selection of malts, hops, and a touch of natural flavouring, we’ve managed to capture that unmistakable jammy sweetness and soft, doughy character that makes the Pink Jammie Doughnut so iconic. Expect a vibrant burst of berry on the nose, a gentle sweetness that lingers on the palate, and a smooth, rounded finish that keeps you coming back for another sip. It’s indulgent without being heavy, familiar yet still surprising – the perfect marriage of beer and bakery.
At 5.0%, it’s a sessionable pale that can be enjoyed on its own or as part of the full Golden Flake Tavern experience. For us, the real magic of Pink Jammie lies in how it bridges nostalgia with modern craft beer innovation, creating something that feels fresh while still evoking a smile of recognition from the very first taste.

GOSFORTH 1939 – 4.0% – STOTTIE LAGER
Every great beer tells a story, and Gosforth 1939 is our way of raising a glass to Greggs’ roots and the proud food culture of the North East. Named after the year and place Greggs was founded, this Stottie Lager is a true homage to the humble yet iconic Stottie – a hearty staple that’s been fuelling our region for generations.
To capture the essence of a Stottie in beer form, we leaned into the characteristics of traditional ‘bready’ lagers, building the recipe around a strong malt backbone while keeping hops restrained and subtle. This allows the savoury, doughy flavours of the malt to shine through, creating a lager that’s smooth, comforting, and unmistakably “bready” in all the best ways. And to take things one step further, we even added a few Greggs Stotties directly into the mash tun – a playful touch that makes this brew as authentic as it gets.
At 4.0%, Gosforth 1939 is designed to be approachable, crisp, and endlessly drinkable, balancing that nostalgic connection to the Stottie with the refreshment you’d expect from a great lager. It’s simple, honest, and rooted in tradition – much like the inspiration behind it.
